A receipt printer and a tablet — that's all you need for minimal store automation. Add a barcode scanner and a label printer — and you get a convenient workstation for the cashier and the merchandiser. For high-traffic locations, it's better to put a POS terminal at the checkout.

To automate a coffee shop or bakery, a POS terminal and a receipt printer are enough. To speed up interaction between the front of house and the kitchen, add a scanner and a label printer for marking semi-finished products.
